The second annual Peace Race will be held on Saturday, September 19, 2009, the weekend of International Peace Day in Fort Worth, Texas. Last year, we had over 400 participants plus vendors and a live band gathered to celebrate the possibilities of hope for a world filled with peace. We raised over $7000 for the Peace Alliance, a non-profit, non-partisan organization committed to establishing a U.S. Department of Peace.
This year, we wish to expand our race to include donations to a local charity dedicated to promoting peace. As we put our collective energies into promoting peace, we wish to provide our children a better and safer environment in which they can live. Let us put our efforts into coming together, people of all races, religions and political persuasions to make our community and world a better place.
The proceeds from this race will be shared between The Peace Alliance Educational Institute and Fort Worth’s Safe City Commission, focusing on the Witness Intervention program and Bright Futures, anti-gang initiative program.
